A 45-year-old Chatsworth woman was killed when her car went through a red light and struck a truck trailer in Northridge, Los Angeles police reported this morning.
Phyllis Perkins was killed about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Plummer Street and Tampa Avenue, Officer Richard Neuenschwander said.
Perkins was driving west on Plummer when she went through the intersection against a red light and her car hit the center of a trailer being pulled by a big-rig truck, Neuenschwander said.
“Her car collided with and went underneath the tractor-trailer rig and came all the way out the other side,” Neuenschwander said.
Perkins was by herself, and no one else was injured.
Neuenschwander said the truck driver, Raymond Winslow, 38, of Cucamonga, was not cited.
