Real Estate Conference at Two Sites

Some of California’s top real estate experts will discuss today’s real estate market at a program sponsored annually by the Real Estate Conference Group.

The conference will take place Feb. 26 at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills and March 1 at the Hyatt Regency Alicante in Garden Grove.

The daylong program is designed to benefit persons interested in real estate, including real estate brokers; sales, leasing and management agents; mortgage brokers and bankers; developers, contractors, attorneys and CPAs.

Keynote speaker for the program in Beverly Hills will be Ray A. Watt, chairman and chief executive officer of Watt Industries.

In Garden Grove, the speaker will be William E. B. Siart, chairman, president and chief executive officer of First Interstate Bank of California.

Each location features a separate keynote speaker, but the rest of the program is duplicated at each site.

The new economic climate will be presented by Jack Kyser, chief economist for the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce; Robert Charles Lesser, chairman of Robert Charles Lesser & Co., and Neal A. Roberts, senior manager of the Roulac Group of Deloitte & Touche.

Special presentations will be made on the Resolution Trust Corp. by Peter F. McAndrews, partner, Cox, Castle & Nicholson; asbestos and toxics by Joel S. Moskowitz, partner, Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, and Mark A. Pisano, executive director of the Southern California Assn. of Governments. Stan Ross, co-managing partner at Kenneth Leventhal & Co. will discuss tax strategies.

Panelists analyzing perspectives on investing are Richard Bobrow, western regional director, Ernst & Young Real Estate Advisory Group; David A. Eisner, managing partner, Southern California Real Estate Group, Price Waterhouse, and Andrew S. Kane, director of real estate services, Arthur Andersen & Co.

Presentations on investment trends will be made by E. Olena Berg, executive vice president of Lowe Enterprises; James S. Carlson, senior vice president of Equitable Real Estate; Jim Gallagher, senior vice president of La Salle Partners; Stanley L. Iezman, chief operating officer of Smith Barney Birtcher Realty Advisors; Mont E. McMillen Jr., executive vice president of Haseko Corp., U.S.A., and Richard Pink, senior vice president of TCW Realty Advisors.

Scheduled to speak on new development concepts are Jeffrey B. Allen, managing partner of Paragon Group; Harry Newman Jr., chairman of Newman Properties and Newman Properties Northwest, and Milton I. Swimmer, partner, J.H. Snyder Co.

Panelists analyzing financing are Robert E. Hamaguchi, senior vice president of Security Pacific National Bank; George A. Smith, chairman, George Smith/Grubb & Ellis Financial Services, and Carol S. Weiss, director of real estate finance for Prudential Mortgage Capital Co.

International investing will be detailed by Robert Brasch, vice chairman of the World Trade Bank and president of Pacific Partners; Lowell C. Martindale, partner, O’Melveny & Myers, and Jack R. Rodman, managing partner of Kenneth Leventhal & Co.

Marketing strategies will be presented by Raymond L. Garland, vice president of Coldwell Banker Commercial Real Estate Investment Banking Services; Harvey E. Green, vice president and managing director of Marcus & Millichap, and Dennis Macheski, vice president and regional director of research for Grubb & Ellis.

The program is from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and includes lunch, refreshments, cocktail reception and the program material. Registration is $175 if paid by Feb. 20. After that date, the fee is $195.

The program has been approved for nine hours of DRE credit and is available for CPA continuing education credit.
