Colgate-Palmolive Co.: The consumer products maker reported that 1989 net income fell 12% from a year ago, to $280 million, on revenue of $5 billion, up 6%. For the fourth quarter, the New York company’s profit fell to $62.5 million from $126.7 million, on revenue of $1.3 billion, up 6% from the 1988 period. The firm said 1988 full-year and fourth-quarter results included a gain from the sale of its Kendall health-care unit and a charge related to Hill’s Pet Products. Excluding those, Colgate-Palmolive said, net income rose 19% for the year and 43% for the quarter.
