LA HABRA : $3.5-Million Mall Renovation Planned
The city will sell $3.5 million worth of bonds to redevelop property at the west end of Fashion Square Mall.
About $2.6 million will be used to acquire property, demolish buildings and construct a parking lot. The remainder will go for interest, a reserve fund, selling costs and other expenses, City Manager Lee Risner said.
The new stores that will be constructed as part of the redevelopment project are expected to generate about $53 million in annual sales tax revenue by the second year of operation, Risner said. The existing Bullock’s store is expected to remain.
The demolition is scheduled to start in March, and the construction project, which includes four major stores, is expected to begin in April. The mall, which is at Beach Boulevard and Imperial Highway, is scheduled to open Nov. 15.
