NATION : Boise Endorsed for Children
The March issue of Parenting magazine ranks Boise as one of the 10 best cities in the nation to raise children because of its education, environment and “laid back” atmosphere.
Parenting, a national magazine based in San Francisco, called Boise “a town that time forgot,” and staff said that despite crowded schools, Boise’s low crime rate, healthy economy and abundant parks make it an oasis for young families.
The magazine picked mid-sized cities because the hustle and bustle of large cities “becomes more of a hassle than a thrill” when couples start having children. And it spread the top 10 out geographically.
The other “Best Family Towns” are Syracuse, N.Y.; Colorado Springs, Colo.; Roanoke, Va.; Stamford, Conn.; Tallahassee, Fla.; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Austin, Tex.; Portland, Ore., and Omaha, Neb.
