GOLF ROUNDUP : Stadler Shoots 67 for 1-Stroke Lead in Hawaiian Open
Craig Stadler sank a chip and a pair of 30-foot putts during a round of five-under-par 67 Friday at Waialea Country Club in Honolulu to take a one-shot lead midway through the Hawaiian Open golf tournament.
Stadler’s 36-hole total of six-under-par 138 is one better than Paul Azinger (67), David Ishii (67) and rookie Grant Waite (67).
Veterans Hubert Green and Lanny Wadkins led a group of five at 140. Also at that figure were Jeff Hart, rookie Peter Persons and defending champion Gene Sauers.
J.C. Goosie and Larry Mowry each shot 67 to share the lead after the first round of the Suncoast seniors golf tournament at the Tampa Palms Country Club in Tampa, Fla.
U.S. Senior Open champion Orville Moody and Charles Coody are a shot back.
