A 42-year-old woman with a handgun was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder Saturday morning in connection with an argument in her trailer home that led to the wounding of a Colton man, police said.

The woman, Karen Thomas of Huntington Beach, was being held on $250,000 bail at Huntington Beach City Jail, Police Lt. Roger Parker said. Arraignment was scheduled for Wednesday in West Orange County Municipal Court.

Thomas was arrested at 5 a.m. after police responded to a report of a shooting at the Del Mar Mobile Home Park in the 19000 block of Brookhurst Street, Parker said.

The victim, Timothy Savage, 25, and another friend had spent much of the night at Thomas’ home. But a fight suddenly erupted between Savage and Thomas’ husband, James, Parker said.

As Savage ran out of the mobile home, Karen Thomas allegedly chased him and fired twice with a revolver, hitting him once in the left shoulder, Parker said.

Savage is in stable condition at UCI Medical Center in Orange, police said.

“We have no idea why they were fighting,” Parker said, adding that an investigation to determine a motive was continuing.
