Mick and the Stones Lead Magazine Poll: The Rolling Stones top Rolling Stone magazine’s 1989 Readers and Critics Poll as artists and tour of the year. They dethrone U2, which has swept the poll for the past two years. Readers also chose the Stones as the comeback of the year, while the critics picked the B-52’s. Readers chose Tom Petty best male singer and his “Full Moon Fever” best album; critics chose Aaron Neville and Neil Young’s “Freedom.” Madonna-weary readers voted the singer worst female singer, while Paula Abdul was voted best female singer, best dressed and sexiest. But critics named Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” best video. Poll results are in the March 8 issue, out next Tuesday.
