New Goalie Cheveldae Helps Red Wings Tie
Associated Press
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. —
Detroit has been looking for a goalie all season and Tim Cheveldae just might be the answer.
Cheveldae made six of his 43 saves in overtime and Gerard Gallant knocked in his own rebound with 6:03 left in regulation as the Red Wings tied slumping New Jersey, 1-1, Monday night.
Cheveldae, recalled from Adirondack of the American Hockey League Friday, excelled against a team that has only 17 goals during an eight-game winless streak.
