ON THE SIDELINES : American Loses in Belgian Open
Amos Mansdorf of Israel defeated American Todd Nelson 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 in their opening round match of the Belgian Indoor Tennis Championships today.
Nelson of San Diego made it through the qualifying round to get into the tournament.
Paolo Cane of Italy struggled through a painful sciatic nerve attack to beat Spain’s Juan Aguilera 6-3, 6-7 (0-7), 6-4 and led the way into the quarter finals.
Cane needed the help of a physiotherapist to stay in the match and spent a long time on the massage table after his victory.
