CHICAGO — Zenith Electronics Corp. today said the sale of its computer division to a French company is in dispute.
The company also announced a 47% drop in fourth-quarter profit from its consumer electronics business and a $17-million loss for the full year.
Zenith, the only major American manufacturer of color televisions, reported results only for its consumer electronics and components business.
In a statement, the suburban Glenview-based company said results for its Zenith Data Systems computer business were not yet available because of a “major dispute” with the buyer, Groupe Bull of France, over the final sale price. The company did not elaborate. It announced the sale in October.
