World IN BRIEF : JORDAN : Arabs Urged to Shift Wealth to East Bloc
Leaders of a four-nation Arab council urged Arab unity to cope with changes sweeping the world, and Iraqi President Saddam Hussein urged Arabs to shift their wealth from the United States to the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. “Just as Israel uses interest groups to apply pressure on the American Administration, there are hundreds of billions of dollars invested by Arabs in the United States and the West which could be used for this purpose,” Saddam told a summit of the Arab Cooperation Council in Amman.
