“Dr. Caligari,” produced by Fullerton-based Steiner Films, begins running as a midnight movie Saturday at the Port Theatre in Corona del Mar. The bizarre, 1989 film is set in an insane asylum run by Dr. Caligari, granddaughter of the character in the silent classic “Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.” At the nearby Balboa, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” continues its midnight run and is doing “better than it’s done in years,” according to Mike Peterson, who manages both cinemas for the Landmark Theatres chain. “I think it’s basically because there’s nothing else to do in Orange County after midnight,” Peterson said.
