DOCTOR, DOCTOR: The UC Irvine academic senate’s unanimous vote for an on-campus medical research center (B2) pleased partisans in the city’s infamous “hospital wars.” . . . Dr. Stanley van den Noort, former UCI Medical School dean and longtime proponent of a university hospital, said such a facility “was a good idea 20 years ago and it’s a good idea now.” . . . But he said celebrations may be premature: “I cooked this dinner about 12 times and nobody ate it.”
