They’ve Got Nerve, and a Lot of Money

A letter dated Feb. 20 was mailed to all Kings’ season seat-holders demanding payment in full for four rounds of possible Stanley Cup playoff hockey, which begins the first week in April. Since there are 11,000 season seat-holders, this prepayment totals $8,360,000, which will sit in the bank drawing interest for a minimum of three months.

I wonder who in the Kings’ organization actually cares about the numerous demands now being placed upon L.A. hockey fans. Ticket prices have gone from $18 to $40 in just two seasons with no marked improvement in the team’s performance. Radio coverage is horrible at best. All TV coverage is on cable. Parking and concession prices are among the highest in the league with only five exits and food that’s digestible, at best.

Maybe it was a distant relative of Bruce McNall’s for whom the saying, “Beware of Greeks bearing gifts,” was written.
