Magic, Friend Engaged Again; No Date Is Set
Magic Johnson, previously one of the NBA’s most eligible bachelors, plans to end that.
Johnson, through his agent, Lon Rosen, announced Friday that he will marry Cookie Kelly, whom he reportedly dated at Michigan State. No date for the ceremony has been set, Rosen said. Johnson, 30, had been engaged to Kelly a few years ago, but called it off.
Kelly, a native of Detroit, lives in Los Angeles and works in the fashion industry.
Asked if he felt now was the time to get married, Johnson smiled and said: “Yeah.”
He declined further comment.
“Earvin doesn’t want to make this into a distraction for the team,” Rosen said.
