ROME — Italy’s interior minister told soccer authorities that about 2,000 troublemakers are known to police and may soon be banned from stadiums as part of anti-violence measures prior to the World Cup.
Antonio Gava, who met with Italian Soccer Federation officials in Rome on Tuesday, also announced that the number of police mobilized at stadiums for league games will be increased to 15,000 from 10,000.
The meeting was prompted by recent incidents, including the exhibition of banners bearing Nazi slogans.
