Calgary 6, Pittsburgh 3--Joe Mullen scored two goals and the Flames beat the Penguins at Calgary to regain first place in the Smythe Division.

Rick Wamsley lost his bid for a second consecutive shutout with 8:34 left on a goal by Chris Dahlquist. It was the first goal allowed by Wamsley in 134 minutes 45 seconds. Penguins John Cullen and Gilbert Delorme added late goals.

The victory, Calgary’s fifth in six games, gave the Flames 81 points, one more than Edmonton. Pittsburgh remained second in the Patrick Division, six points behind the New York Rangers.

Minnesota 5, Chicago 4--Brian Bellows scored his 43rd goal on a power play midway through the third period at Minneapolis and the North Stars handed the Blackhawks their third consecutive loss.

Chicago’s fourth loss in as many visits to Minneapolis this season, prevented the Blackhawks from moving into a first-place tie with St. Louis in the Norris Division.
