Pasadena : Another Vote Set on Home
A decision on the fate of Arnold Williams’ proposed home in the Linda Vista Annandale neighborhood has been delayed to April 3, when the Board of Directors will take another vote. City directors voted 3-2 Tuesday to allow Williams to construct his three-story home on Glen Oaks Boulevard, but the vote did not legally qualify under City Charter rules, which require a four-vote majority.
Williams wants to build a 3,154-square-foot home next to a similar home he has already constructed on Glen Oaks. But the Linda Vista Annandale Neighborhood Assn. opposes his plans because it believes the house is too large for the lot and is incompatible with smaller surrounding homes. Williams, who is black, believes he has run into opposition because of racism.
The matter was appealed to the board for a final decision. Hearings of two hours each were held in January and on Tuesday.
