Maxwell Communication Corp. PLC has announced that William F. Reilly has resigned as president and chief operating officer of its Macmillan Inc. subsidiary and will be replaced by David Shaffer, who headed the group’s electronic publishing operations worldwide. Reilly resigned to devote full time to management of K-III Holdings, a partnership created more than a year ago by several top Macmillan executives with financial support from the investment firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts.
