A woman who once claimed that David Letterman was a dominant figure in her life has broken into the talk-show host’s home twice since she was released from prison for one of five earlier break-ins there, police said.

Margaret Ray, 37, of Crawford, Colo., was released Friday from Niantic State Prison for women, and on Sunday, police found her in Letterman’s house after he called to report a broken window, Police Sgt. Nick Warren said.

Police escorted her off the property and warned her not to come back, Warren said.

But early Monday, the host of NBC’s “Late Night with David Letterman” called police to report seeing Ray in the hallway of his home. Police found her near the tennis court on Letterman’s property.

Ray was charged with first-degree trespassing, held overnight on $1,000 bond and taken to Norwalk Superior Court on Monday afternoon, where a psychiatric evaluation was ordered, a spokeswoman in the public defender’s office said. Ray was taken back to the Niantic prison.

When Ray was released last Friday, she had served seven months of a nine-month sentence for trespassing at Letterman’s home last August.
