SHORT TAKES : Movie Deal for Sex Case Figure

Attorneys for a woman awarded a $1.1-million judgment after she was secretly videotaped having sex said they have reached agreement with a producer to film a television movie about the case.

Ronald Krist and Richard Morrison, attorneys for Susan Leigh Kerr, said Tuesday that the NBC Monday Night Movie will be made by Los Angeles producer Joan Barnett.

Kerr, 23, won the $1.1-million judgment and attracted national attention last June after she filed suit against her former boyfriend, Dan Boyles Jr., and four other men who secretly taped her having sex with Boyles.

The tape later was played for Boyle’s college fraternity members at Texas Tech University. Half the judgment has been paid. The other half, assessed against Boyles, is pending on appeal.

Krist refused to reveal how much money was involved in the television movie deal other than to say it was less than seven figures. All of Kerr’s royalties will go to as-yet-undesignated charities that assist victims of sex crimes, the attorney said.
