Cigarette Spoiled ‘Counselor’ Image
Re: (Life’s cover) March 1, 1990, “Campus Cops, They Walk School Beat as Truant Officers, Counselors--and Police”: “Counselors”? What kind of image is “counselor” Dennis Pierce projecting as he checks students’ belongings with a cigarette dangling from his mouth?
It appears we’ve taken two giant steps backward in the education of young people in the dangers associated with cigarette smoking! And from a police officer, whom we should hold up to our young people as an example to emulate!
I’m appalled and disgusted at the hypocrisy! The picture negated all the rhetoric!
