Church Gets a $15-Million Gift
A San Juan Capistrano real estate developer and his wife have made a $15-million contribution to a 2-year-old foundation established to help the Catholic Church carry out its religious and diplomatic missions around the world, church officials said Thursday.
Arthur B. Birtcher, general partner in Laguna Niguel-based Birtcher Co., a real estate and development firm, pledged $15 million to the Papal Foundation, a group formed in 1988 and administered by the nation’s highest-ranking Catholic officials. The foundation has raised $31 million so far toward a goal of $100 million.
