THE SIDELINES : Mowry Leads Japan Tournament
Larry Mowry fired a 6-under-par 66 today and grabbed a one shot lead after one round of the Grandslam Championship for seniors golfers.
Chi San-hsu of Taiwan was one shot behind at 67.
Lee Trevino, the leading money-winner on the Seniors Tour, Don January, Dave Hill and Japan’s Hideo Jibiki shot 69s and were tied for third.
Bob Charles of New Zealand shot a 70, while Miller Barber and Billy Casper were in a six-man group at 71.
The winner of the $400,000 event, played on the par-72 Oak Hills Country Club, will earn $72,000.
