From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Lloyd Webber’s Plan Threatened: Stoll Moss Theaters Ltd., the entertainment firm of Australian businessman Robert Holmes a Court, said it has acquired a 6.61% stake in Really Useful Group PLC, threatening Andrew Lloyd Webber’s plan to take the company private. Under British law, the British composer can force remaining shareholders to tender their shares to him only if he gains control of more than 95% of the company. Lloyd Webber, who serves as a director of Really Useful, has offered $124 million, or 77.4 million pounds. He already owns 82.5% of the stock. Lloyd Webber wants to switch his attention to movies from theatrical musicals without worrying about the company’s stock price.
