Police are searching for clues in the stabbing death of a young man whose body was found Sunday near the northbound on-ramp of Interstate 5 at 11th Avenue downtown.
Sgt. Ed Petrick of the department’s homicide division said the young Latino had no identification on him. The only distinctive feature was that a front tuft of the man’s dark hair was bleached blond, Petrick said.
Because there were no scrapes on the body, police believe he was probably dumped from a car that had pulled over on the freeway.
“He may have fallen, gotten up, staggered to the curb,” Petrick said.
Police found the body about 1 a.m., after several passing motorists called police.
A police spokesman said the man was 25 to 30 years old, 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighed 172 pounds. He was wearing blue jeans, white socks and a gray pullover sweat shirt, with blue stripes. He was not wearing shoes.
If anyone saw a car stop or a man trying to flag down motorists in the area between 12:35 and 1 a.m. Sunday, they are asked to call the homicide division at 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 235-TIPS, Robinson said. All information is confidential.
