NBC Lands 6 in Top 10, Takes Weekly Ratings : TV RATINGS

With “The Cosby Show” and five other series in the Top 10, NBC handily won the weekly ratings race last week, the A. C. Nielsen Co. reported Tuesday. ABC was second and CBS finished third, with especially low ratings for the two sitcoms it introduced last Wednesday. “Normal Life” attracted only 14% of the people watching TV at the time and finished 67th among the 79 prime-time programs that aired last week. “Sydney” fared only slightly better, ranking 59th. * NBC’s remake of Ernest Hemingway’s “The Old Man and the Sea” won the battle of TV movies Sunday night. With Anthony Quinn in the lead role, the two-hour film had an audience of about 13.7 million homes. ABC’s gangster drama “Dangerous Passion” drew about 10.5 million, and the first part of CBS’ “Common Ground,” about the desegregation of Boston’s public schools, garnered about 10.1 million. The show that did best from 9 to 9:30 p.m., however, was Fox’s “Married . . . With Children.”
