Patrick Ewing seemed to be doing everything possible to carry his team during the New York Knicks’ six-game losing streak.

The All-Star center was scoring and rebounding almost at will and dominating on defense.

Tuesday night against the Washington Bullets, Ewing conquered the only weakness in his game--the three-point shot--and the Knicks came away victorious.

Ewing made the first three-point shot of his career and scored 41 points as the Knicks won, 119-100, at New York.

“I didn’t really know where I was on the court,” said Ewing, who had missed his 25 previous three-point attempts. “Nobody was on me, so I just shot it.”

Ewing, who scored a career-high 51 points against Boston Saturday, extended to 28 his streak of games with 20 or more points.

Gerald Wilkins added 19 points for the Knicks, who had lost four consecutive home games and seven of their last nine at Madison Square Garden after starting the season 22-2 there.

San Antonio 115, Seattle 103--Terry Cummings scored 31 points, including eight during a 12-3 fourth-quarter run, as the Spurs clinched a playoff berth at San Antonio.

Dale Ellis led the SuperSonics with 36 points.

Milwaukee 133, Phoenix 127--Ricky Pierce scored 20 of his 30 points in the second half at Milwaukee as the Bucks prevented the Suns from clinching a playoff berth.

Kevin Johnson had a career-high 44 points for the Suns. Eddie Johnson had 29 and recently acquired Mike McGee had 25.
