Two people were killed and another was seriously injured Wednesday when their speeding car crashed into a power pole, cutting it in half, police said.
Dead are Jose Santos, 18, of Chula Vista, the driver, and Salvador Nunez, 17, of San Diego. The identity of the injured passenger was unavailable.
The accident occurred about 1 a.m. in the 3500 block of Main Street, police Sgt. Mike Healey said.
Santos and Nunez died of massive head injuries, Healey said. The injured passenger was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he was in critical condition.
