ANAHEIM : Law Office Defaced by Swastika Sticker

Share

The Orange County Human Relations Commission on Wednesday condemned the “intimidation” of an Anaheim law firm that advocates gay rights.

Attorney John Duran said a sticker depicting a swastika along with the words “Trash ‘em, Smash ‘em, Make ‘em Die” was slapped over the business sign of his office in the 700 block of Anaheim Boulevard. The sticker was attributed to the White Aryan Resistance, a white supremacist group.

“This is frightening and intimidating,” Duran said. “It concerns me because some religious leaders and politicians provoke these kinds of responses from people that are very unsettled.”

Duran said he believed the law firm was “targeted” because of its reputation for representing gays and lesbians.

Rusty Kennedy, the commission’s executive director, said he was outraged by the incident. “We stand with the majority of residents of the county who condemn this type of intimidation directed at minorities,” he said.

On Sunday, about 500 anti-Semitic flyers were distributed in a neighborhood surrounding a Yorba Linda synagogue.

Kennedy said he did not believe the two incidents are related. Police are investigating.
