Judgments on the KCBS ‘Office Romance’

I’m certainly no prude, and I couldn’t care less about who is “sleeping” (what an odd euphemism) with whom, but the nauseating Bree Walker-Jim Lampley shenanigans on Channel 2 have caused me to switch to another station. I mean, cute is bad enough, as in giggly airhead happy news amateurism; cutesy is much worse.

This is major market television? This is network affiliate big league journalism, with proportionate salaries?

It’s ironic that, a few months ago, one of Channel 2’s big shots deplored the statement by a Miss America contestant that she wanted to jump right in and be a news anchor. How sad, how shallow, he said, that she doesn’t understand that she must first pay her dues as a journalist and earn an anchor position. Hey, why should she bother about that stuff when she can see bush-league teasing and giggling right here at the CBS affiliate?

Keep Tritia (Toyota) and Maclovio (Perez) and fire the rest. Surely there are mature, capable, dignified announcers out there who are waiting to audition.
