Airport Tax

Share

I see by The Times (March 20) that the Bush Administration finally recognizes the need for updating of our airways and airports. But the way they propose to finance it is to impose an additional tax on passengers.

Will they really spend this money on the airports and airways? Or will they use it for other purposes the way the Reagan Administration used the existing 8% tax on tickets?

Rather than trust this Administration I would first like them to spend some of the money that has been earmarked for the airports/airways, and then if additional money is needed propose a tax that includes safeguards to assure us that it will be spent on what is promised.

I am tired of seeing new taxes or “user fees” being proposed when we already are paying for these services.
