Pop’s Barbarians

Share

Jonathan Gold’s March 28 article “Fun With Death Metal at Palace” reflects the re-barbarization of America. When I read an accolade of such an abhorrent form of popular music, I cringe and feel angered and, oh, so sad!

To extol the wonders of such negative, sick and destructive forces expressed by such “musical” groups as Overkill and Violence does a grave disservice to our society, because it celebrates our degeneration and barbarity.

Where once our pop music was a celebration of love, hope, wholesome pleasures or sensitive blues, we now are expected to find our fun in the crassness, crudity, vulgarity and violence as expressed by such bands.
