Oceanside
A pickup truck driving north on Interstate 5 near Oceanside overturned Friday and injured four people, one seriously, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The accident occurred about 9:30 a.m. about half a mile north of Harbor Drive, when the driver apparently fell asleep and drifted into the center divider.
The truck traveled about 275 feet--damaging a metal center divider and knocking down a cable fence--before it overturned in the southbound lane. Several passengers were thrown from the truck.
Three of the injured were taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital-La Jolla, including an unidentified male passenger listed in critical condition with a head injury. Listed in good condition at the hospital were Israel Medina, who had a head injury, and Fidencio Herrera, 29, who had a broken rib.
The fourth person, Gustavo Flores, 21, was taken to Tri-City Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
