MOORPARK : Boy, 9, Accidentally Fires Father’s Rifle
A 9-year-old boy playing with his father’s .30-caliber rifle in their Moorpark apartment accidentally fired it, authorities said Thursday.
Police responded to reports of a disturbance Wednesday at the apartment in the 1400 block of Reedley Street and discovered that no one was injured, said Lt. Bill Montijo of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
The boy had aimed at a mirror and fired, not realizing the gun was loaded.
The boy and his 12-year-old sister were alone in the apartment, Montijo said.
