SIMI VALLEY : Quake Preparedness Exercise Scheduled
The city of Simi Valley will conduct an earthquake preparedness exercise today as part of a monthlong statewide campaign, officials said.
Representatives from more than a dozen local agencies will participate in the mock earthquake exercise, which will run from 8:30 a.m. to noon, said Lucia Alvelais, a city spokeswoman.
Officials from the Simi Valley Police Department and the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department and Fire Department will work through emergency scenarios, Alvelais said.
The main purpose of the exercise is to determine how to restore and allocate vital services and utilities in a crisis situation, Alvelais said.
