Store Owner Held Up by Gunman on His Way to Bank
The owner of a Garden Grove convenience store, who was about to deposit his store’s receipts, was robbed Thursday of $7,000 in the parking lot of a bank, police said.
Surjit Singh Bajwa, 31, of Westminster was approached by a man armed with a handgun about 2:20 p.m. as Bajwa stepped from his car in the parking lot of Bank of America, 6951 Westminster Blvd., Sgt. Bill Lewis said.
Bajwa, who operates a 7-Eleven store, handed the robber the money and was not harmed, Lewis said.
The bandit was described as white with brown hair, 20 to 25 years old, about six feet tall and weighing 180 pounds. He was wearing a light-colored shirt and jeans. He was seen fleeing in an older-model orange Datsun station wagon, the sergeant said.
