THE SIDELINES : Kanai Leads TPC Golf Match

NARITA, Japan —
Seiichi Kanai shot a 1-under-par 71 today to take a three-stroke lead after the second round of the $189,000 TPC Starts Senior golf tournament.
Kanai, in his first year on the senior tour, had a 3-under 141 total after a round that featured four birdies and three bogeys in swirling wind and occasional rain on the 6,575-yard, par-72 Narita Springs Country Club course.
Kanai has won 14 tournaments on the regular Japan PGA Tour, along with the Hong Kong Open in 1986.
