Watch Groups Being Formed in Palms
Los Angeles police are trying to organize Neighborhood Watch groups in the Palms area, in part to combat what they say has been a major increase in thefts of autos and car stereos in the past year.
Police have invited community residents, business people and property owners to an introductory meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 3647 Watseka Ave. Police say Neighborhood Watch programs on every block could help prevent such thefts in the future. Anyone seeking more information or who has questions can call the police department at 202-4524 and ask for M.S. Cobb between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
