SHORT TAKES : AIDS Boy’s Mom Lauds Singer

Ryan White’s mother says she’ll never forget Elton John for the support he gave her and Ryan in the days before the boy died of AIDS. “They were very close,” Jeanne White said in an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America” today.

“I don’t know how I would have managed without him, really. That man, he shed as many tears over Ryan as I did--a truly wonderful person. He was always there when we needed him. I couldn’t have done it without him.” White also talked about finishing the AIDS education book for children that Ryan started.
