TRW Inc.: The Cleveland-based firm, which produces advanced technology products and services primarily for the automotive, space and defense and information markets, said first-quarter profit dropped 17% from a year earlier to $57 million. It blamed the drop on sharply higher interest expense in Brazil and financing costs associated with its 1989 acquisitions of Talley’s air bag business and Chilton Corp. Sales were $2 billion, up 12%.
