NAMES IN THE NEWS : Finger Lake Track Pact OKd
Management and horsemen at Finger Lakes race track have agreed to a two-year contract extension, clearing the way for this weekend’s opening of the 1990 season, officials said.
Under terms of the contract extension agreed on Wednesday, members of the Horsemen’s Benevolent Protective Assn. will receive the same compensation they received under an agreement that expired Dec. 31, 1989. However, the extension will be subject to review after the 1990 season if average daily handle falls below last season’s handle.
The season, which opens Saturday with post time at 1:15 p.m., was delayed eight racing days because of construction at the track and contract negotiations.
