British rock star Billy Idol is expected to be released in three or four days after surgery Wednesday to help repair a broken leg.

Ellen Golden, the singer’s spokeswoman, said the operation lasted three hours, during which surgeons inserted a steel rod into Idol’s leg to aid in the repair of a bone that was not healing properly. Idol’s leg was injured in a motorcycle crash in February.

Cedars Sinai Medical Center spokesman Ron Wise said after the surgery, “He did well and he’s going to be fine.”

Idol, 34, whose trademark is his brush-cut blond hair, was driving home without a helmet on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle--after finishing work on the album “Charmed Life”--when he was involved in a collision with a car.
