Van Nuys Woman Reported Missing
Authorities in two states were searching Thursday for a young Van Nuys woman who did not return home after an Easter weekend visit with friends in Mesa, Ariz.
Jamie Michelle Bowie, 24, said goodby to friends Monday at a gas station in Mesa where she was filling up her 1978 Volkswagen convertible with gas before beginning the eight-hour drive along Interstate 10 back to Southern California, said Los Angeles Police Detective Doug Stark.
But she never arrived at her Oxnard Street apartment in Van Nuys, where her older brother was awaiting her return, Stark said.
Stark said authorities and Bowie’s relatives have searched for her by land and air but have found no trace of her or her car.
Bowie was described as a white woman, 5 feet, 4 inches tall with blond hair and blue eyes and weighing about 100 pounds. Her car had an Oklahoma license plate, UNP 303.
