122 Evacuated From Jet on Runway at LAX
A total of 122 passengers were evacuated from a Continental Airlines jetliner at Los Angeles International Airport at about noon on Friday after an electrical short filled the cockpit with smoke, fire officials said.
The evacuation of the McDonnell-Douglas 80, which had been preparing to leave Terminal 6 for a flight to Denver, was orderly and there were no injuries, Continental officials said.
Passengers were transferred to another plane to make the flight and the jetliner with the electrical problem was repaired within hours, Continental said.
