COSTA MESA : 400 Youths Expected for Science Fair

More than 400 high school and junior high students are expected to take part in the Orange County Science and Engineering Fair today through Sunday at the Orange County Fair and Exposition Center.

The annual event features displays, models and exhibits made by students to test or explain some aspect of science or engineering.

“The purpose of the Science Fair is to promote and stimulate student interest in, and application of science, engineering and mathematics,” said Mary Schuesler, president of the Science Fair’s board of directors.

Judging of the entries will take place Tuesday, and the winners will be announced at a special awards ceremony at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

The student projects will be on display to the public from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. The displays will be in Building 10 at the fairgrounds, 88 Fair Drive.

Co-sponsors of the Science Fair include the county Department of Education, Cal State Fullerton and numerous businesses and industries.
