Santa Fe Will Lay Off 850: Santa Fe Railway said it plans to lay off about 850 people by May 15 because of a slump in business. About 125 jobs will be eliminated at a locomotive repair shop in San Bernardino, the company said. In all, 439 people are employed at that facility. The layoffs, which include about 100 management positions, are similar to seasonal job cuts in previous years, but “are deeper,” the company said.
