LOCAL : Man Found Slain in Van Nuys

A 43-year-old Venice man was found shot to death in a Van Nuys alley, and investigators had no clues to the motive for the slaying, Los Angeles police reported this morning.
Police were called to an alley behind the 6600 block of Hayvenhurst Avenue at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday after residents in the area reported hearing gunshots, Lt. Warren Knowles said. The man was found sprawled on the ground behind an apartment building.
The victim’s name was not released pending notification of his family. Police have been unable to determine what the man was doing in the area or why he was shot.
