Countywide : Dimes March to Be Held at Three Sites
The March of Dimes will hold its annual walk-a-thon Saturday at three separate sites in Orange County as part of a national fund-raising effort toward helping prevent birth defects.
Organizers in Orange County hope to attract 7,000 walkers and raise $640,000. Nationally, the group hopes 750,000 people will lace up their sneakers and stroll to raise $51 million.
The largest concentration of walkers in Orange County is expected at Huntington Beach, where 4,000 volunteers will gather at the bike path near the corner of Magnolia Street and Pacific Coast Highway.
At Irvine’s Mason Park, walkers are asked to meet on the corner of University Drive and Harvard Avenue while walkers on the Dana Point course are asked to meet on Doheny State Beach near Dana Point Harbor. The fund-raiser is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m.
